Complete Your Dallas County Defensive Driving Course Online

This court takes the request at the clerk's window or by mail. Deadline: written request to the court on or before the appearance date on the citation; mailed requests go certified mail, return receipt requested.

• Driving Safety Course Request Form and Affidavit (per precinct) with plea of guilty or no contest and jury waiver, signed before a notary public
• Valid Texas driver license or permit (or proof of US military status)
• Copy of proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance)
• Payment of the court fee shown on the affidavit plus a $2 transaction fee (money order or cashier's check to County of Dallas, or card online)

A $10 reimbursement fee (court cost amount is printed on each precinct's affidavit form and not on the web page; the $10 DSC reimbursement fee and a $2 transaction fee are nonrefundable; card payment available online at dallascounty.org).

You have 90 days to finish the course and turn in the court copy of your certificate, your certified DPS driving record (most courts want the Type 3A) and the notarized affidavit, at the clerk's window or by mail. After approval you have 90 days to complete the course and order the certified Type 3A record from DPS; the citation is dismissed when the documents reach the court within the 90 days.
