Can I take traffic school for a North Las Vegas Municipal Court ticket?

Yes. The court amends a moving violation of 4 or fewer points to a parking citation when you complete a Level 1 Nevada traffic school, and a violation of 5 or more points when you complete a Level 2 school. Traffic Safety Institute (license TSS000053264) offers the 5-hour Level 1 course, so it fits violations of 4 points or fewer.

Can I take traffic school for a North Las Vegas Justice Court ticket?

Yes, if the violation carries 4 demerit points or less, you have not taken traffic school for a demerit reduction in the last 12 months, and you do not hold a commercial license. Visit or contact the court to request it, complete a course at a school on the Nevada DMV list, and present the certificate with your payment in full by the response date.

What is the deadline?

Municipal Court: the certificate must reach the court within 5 business days of entering your plea, unless a judge allows more time. That is the tightest window of any Nevada court, so leave time for the notarized affidavit: we email your certificate once we verify it. Justice Court: the certificate and payment are due by the 90-day response date on the citation.

How does the court get my certificate?

Municipal Court accepts it in person, by fax to (702) 399-6296, or by email to courtprograms@cityofnorthlasvegas.com. Justice Court takes it with your payment. We email your certificate once we verify your notarized affidavit; we report your completion to the Nevada DMV separately.

Is there a fee I can pay instead of the course?

North Las Vegas Municipal Court publishes no cash alternative; the amendment comes from completing the right level of school. The course costs $24.99, paid only after you pass.

Does the course also remove points from my DMV record?

Not when it is taken for a court. The DMV cancels 3 demerit points only for a course taken voluntarily, once every 12 months, if you have 3 to 11 points.
