Henderson Traffic School Questions

Can I take traffic school for a Henderson Municipal Court ticket?

Yes, for a moving violation worth 4 demerit points or less. You pay the total penalty, complete a traffic safety school on the Nevada DMV list, and submit proof of completion to the court by the 90-day response date on the citation. Commercial license holders are not eligible. Level 1 if you have not attended traffic school in the last 12 months; Level 2 repeat-offender school (8 hours) if you have. Traffic Safety Institute (license TSS000053264) offers the 5-hour Level 1 course.

Can I take traffic school for a Henderson Justice Court ticket?

Yes, if the violation carries 4 demerit points or less, you have not taken traffic school for a demerit reduction in the last 12 months, and you do not hold a commercial license. Visit or contact the court to request it, complete a course at a school on the Nevada DMV list, and present the certificate with your payment in full by the response date.

Is there a fee I can pay instead of the course?

Henderson Municipal Court offers a $60 demerit point reduction fee in addition to the citation penalty, under NRS 484A.790. The course costs $24.99, paid only after you pass. Henderson Justice Court publishes no fee alternative.

What is the deadline?

The 90-day response date on your citation, for both Henderson courts. Payment and proof of completion are both due by then; otherwise a record of conviction goes to the DMV.

How does the court get my certificate?

We email your certificate of completion once you pass, pay and we verify your notarized affidavit. You submit it to the court by the due date, with your payment at Justice Court. We report your completion to the Nevada DMV separately.

Does the course also remove points from my DMV record?

Not when it is taken for a court. The DMV cancels 3 demerit points only for a course taken voluntarily, once every 12 months, if you have 3 to 11 points.

Two separate payments: one to the court, one to us.

  • The court fee — paid to the court

The civil penalty on your citation is set by the court that issued it and paid to that court. Henderson Municipal Court also offers a $60 demerit point reduction fee in place of the course, paid on top of the penalty (NRS 484A.790).
