How do I know if I’m eligible for traffic school?
You may qualify if you:
- Had a non-commercial moving violation (e.g. speeding under 30 mph over)
- Elect traffic school and pay the fee within 30 days
- Haven’t used the option in the past 12 months
- Have fewer than 5 lifetime elections
- Do not hold a CDL
- Drive a non-commercial passenger vehicle
How to request traffic school in Palm Beach County?
- Submit a Driver Improvement Affidavit: File the elect-to-attend form when paying the ticket. You can do this online, in person, or by mail – just include the signed affidavit.
- Pay the Fine and Election Fee: During your election, you must pay the civil traffic fine, and pay the election fee to elect traffic school.
- Complete the Course Within 90 Days: Once elected, you have 90 days from the violation date to finish a state-approved 4‑hour BDI course and pass it.
